Introduction

This app is an independent, unofficial project built and run by a single developer. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Web3 Foundation or the official Web3Summit event organisers. It started as an end-of-studies project and has been revived and adapted specifically for this event.

I take your privacy seriously. This policy explains plainly what information I collect, how I use it, and how I protect it.

Data collected

I only collect data necessary for you to use the service:

• Your username and email address at registration
• Your password (always stored securely)
• Events you create (if you are an organiser)
• Events you add to favourites
• Your role on the platform (visitor, attendee, organiser, or admin)
• Messages you send in event chat rooms

How your data is used

Your data is used exclusively to:

• Create and manage your user account
• Allow you to create and participate in events
• Identify you when you log in
• Display the events you have saved as favourites
• Allow you to manage your own events (if you are an organiser)
• Display chat messages to other participants of the same room, for the duration of the event

Data protection

Your security is my priority. Here are the measures I take:

• JWT (JSON Web Tokens) to store your identity and role
• Two storage options of your choice:
  • Session only: information kept for the duration of your session
  • Remember me: information kept for future logins
• Secure deletion of your token on log out
• Password hashed before storage in the database

Data sharing

My approach to your data:

• I do not sell your personal data
• I do not share your information with third parties
• I do not collect more information than necessary
• Some public information such as your username is visible to other users
• If you are an organiser, your name will be displayed as the creator of your events

Your GDPR rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights:

• Right to access your personal data
• Right to rectification and update of your data
• Right to erasure (right to be forgotten)
• Right to object to the processing of your data
• Right to data portability

Retention period

Your data is retained as follows:

• Temporary login information: until you close your browser
• Persistent login (Remember me option): until you manually log out
• Account data: as long as your account remains active (deletion available on request)
• Chat messages: automatically and permanently deleted from the database 1 hour after the event ends (matching the chat access window)
